2015 Audi R8 Unveiled
Following a photo that leaked yesterday, Audi has finally unveiled the much anticipated 2015 R8. The updated design includes a single frame front grille with a honeycomb pattern and flat LED headlights or optional laser lighting clusters with a range of 600 meters, along with a few modification in its shape, which boasts a rounder, curvier appearance and a more prominent shoulder line that connects the wheels and divides the side blades in two, making the car look longer and more dynamic. At the rear, you’ll find flat LED taillights, a retractable spoiler and a large diffuser that sits between trapezoidal exhaust pipes.
Power for the new R8 will come from an exclusive V10 5.2-liter FSI naturally aspirated engine that can be tuned to 540 horsepower with 540 Nm of torque in the base model or 610 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque for the V10 Plus model. This will allow it to go from 0 to 62 in just 3.5 seconds before topping out at 200 mph for the base model, while the Plus will manage the same in 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 205 mph. Both versions are paired with a seven-speed S-tronic gearbox with three automatic modes and manual control that sends power to a permanent quattro all-wheel drive system equipped with a front electrohydraulic multi-plate clutch.
The 2015 Audi R8 will make its official debut next week at the Geneva Motor Show and go on sale this summer at a starting price of €165,000 for the standard model and €187,400 for the Plus.
