2015 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06

Chevrolet didn’t have to dress its fourth generation Corvette, the 2015 Z06, in a bright yellow bumble-bee look to catch our attention at the Detroit Auto Show, but we won’t fault them for going all-out with the release of their next performance car. It’s almost hard to believe the first Z06 model appeared back in 1963, completing changing the game, just like this model does today with a new motor and a range of new performance tweaks. The latest Z06 offers a 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V-8 expected to deliver at least 625 horsepower and 635 pound-feet of torque, which is a huge jump from the 460 horsepower V-8 in the base model and very close to the current ZR1′s 638 horses. The profile of the car is essentially the same, but a closer look reveals plenty of winglets and other vents to help delivery more downforce and cooling, which when combined with the additional carbon fiber hood and adjustable rear spoiler, 19-inch wheels, and longer headlamps make for a far more aggressive look. Unfortunately, the Z06 won’t hit dealers until early 2015 and it will be a very hot commodity when it finally does. The cost? For that we’ll have to wait and see, but expect for it to be equally eye-popping.
