Slyle X TALENT: YOUNGEST OSCAR NOMINEE QUVENZHANÉ WALLIS

Meet Quvenzhané Wallis. You may not know her just yet but you may want to get to know her. She is only 9 years old and clearly she is super-talented – at least talented enough to earn herself an Oscar as the youngest Best Actress in a Leading Role nominee ever for her part in critically acclaimed film Beasts of The Southern Wild. The record was previously held by Keisha Castle-Hughes, who was 13 when she was nominated for Whale Rider(2003).


Wallis, was just five when she auditioned for the role of Hushpuppy in the critically acclaimed Beasts of the Southern Wild.
Directed by Benh Zeitlin, and shot on location in New Orleans, Beasts of the Southern Wildstory of a young girl who lives with her father in a fantastical bayou community.
The nine-year-old wonder will soon be able to count stars Paul Giamatti, Brad Pitt, and Michael Fassbender as co-stars as she has since been cast by British director Steve McQueen’s upcoming movie Twelve Years a Slave.
The young actress is up for some tough competition on the night though as her fellow nominees include Best Actress honour in a category which features Hollywood heavy-hitters Jessica Chastain for Zero Dark Thirty, Jennifer Lawrence for Silver Linings Playbook, Naomi Watts for The Impossible, and Emmanuelle Riva for Amour.
